Merry Christmas!

YAY FOR BEING HOME IN GEORGIA! So, our original plan was to leave Texas and make the loooong 16 hour trip home at midnight 12/24. Nick had to fly all day on 12/23 so he was going to come home, take a nap and then hit the road. Well, as I figured would happen Nick tried to take that nap but was way to excited and we wound up leaving Corpus Christi at 8:30 p.m. After a VERY long night and day, we made it to Lawrenceville at 12 p.m. on Christmas Eve, surprising Nicks parents. After a quick hello and unpacking of the car we SLEPT! I wanted to head over to my cousins house for Christmas Eve, but we couldn't function like normal human beings without the sleep that we had. As for Christmas day, in a word it was WONDERFUL! We woke up at my in laws house to lots of wonderful gifts and yummy goodies in our stockings. Sarah and Jeff (Nick's dad) played Santa and handed out all of the gifts. My favorite gift? I am not really sure! I got so many great things so all in all I couldn't have asked for more. After some breakfast, we got ready and went to my Aunt Lynn's house. I was so excited I had trouble sitting still on the 5 minute car ride. As soon as we got there, I had warm greetings from Lori Leigh who hugged me immediately and Maya and Lynn who said, "LET ME SEE YOUR BELLY!!" I couldn't have been happier. Plus, I racked up in some maternity clothes which was great! The day after Christmas held a wonderful surprise. We met up with some amazing friends we made while stationed in Milton, Leslie and David Scott at the Varsity. They were headed to Jacksonville to see their family so it was wonderful that it worked out that we got to have a quick lunch with them. We then went and saw Sherlock Holmes with a bunch of friends we had not seen. We have been SO super busy in the days that we have been here, and still have a ton of friends and family left to see. The next few days I am sure will fly by, but we are going to make the most of it. I am looking forward to tomorrow night when we are getting together with quite a few of our friends at Katie Buttons house. Pictures to come!!

Christmas Excitement!

Well, I realized that I have not blogged in FAR to long. Shame on me! We had our seventh month baby doctors appointment today. For those of you counting, I know I am only six and a half months along but with the holidays coming I had to get the checkup before heading HOME! Doctor Glazener gave me and the baby a clean bill of health. She said he is a little big, but not to worry he looks GREAT. I was not shocked at the news that he might be on the bigger side. I mean, I was a BIG baby (8 lbs, 10 oz.) and since he is Nicks child, I doubt we are going to have a little man on our hands. But who knows, only time will tell. He is still kicking up a storm and his heartbeat was a strong 140 today. She cleared me to travel to Atlanta and for that I was VERY excited. The next appointment is on January 14 which is the day after I come back from Atlanta, also Nick's SELECTION day...wow, everything is happening really fast!

I realized that I have not put up a SINGLE Christmas picture of our tree, so I figured I would go ahead and post those. I also included pictures from Nicks squadron Christmas party - please ignore his ugly sweater. I also hope that our Christmas cards begin to reach our friends and family, as I am anxious to see what people think of my handy work. Anyway, we have two more days here in Corpus Christi and on Thursday we will make our 17 hour trek to Georgia. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Nick and baby Niz "fight"

I just couldn't help but share this story. On Thursday night, Nick and I were headed to bed and I told Nick that he should feel the baby, because over the past week he has gotten MUCH stronger. Nick reached over to feel his strong punches and kicks and of course, he stopped moving. What was Nicks reaction? He poked me in the tummy a few times (not hard of course!) saying, "hello, are you in there?" and what happened? He punched Nick right back. This went on for a few minutes and in between fierce giggles from me and HUGE toothy grins from Nick, the baby and Nick had quite the boxing session. It was a hysterical moment, and Nick almost seemed as if he was in disbelief that the baby was responding to him. Of course, Nick was done playing before his son was, so for the next little while I was left getting the one sided pokes and kicks. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

We had a wonderful time and Nicks squadron Christmas party. It was nice to see our friends and get all dressed up. Nick of course wore the ugliest Christmas sweater you could ever find...but I cannot complain about that too much. His sweater won us a $25 gift card to Logans Steak House. It also helped get me that much more into the Christmas spirit! I am starting to get very anxious to get back to GA, and we are now down to eleven days!

On another note, I would like to congratulate The Dozier Family for welcoming their new little girl, Sophia Angeline Dozier. She was born on December 9th and was happy and healthy. Also, sending our best wishes to the Rieber Family as mommy Theresa will be induced on December 14! So many babies, it makes me even more excited for this little guy to make his appearance in March.

6 Months...WOW!

We can hardly believe that we have reached the sixth month in this pregnancy! It seems as though time is just FLYING by. Everything is still progressing quiet well, and as with any typical boy, I don't think he likes shopping. I went out on Monday and Tuesday to try and find a dress to wear to Nick's squadron Christmas party. All though the little man was quite still while I was shopping, he made up for it when I got home and finally put my feet up. He kicked, squirmed, and punched in what I believe was his unsatisfaction for being so busy all day. Consequentally, I was also STARVING for the rest of the evening (not that this should come as a huge suprise to ANYONE) Now, we all know that I am a pro at shopping and can go for hours at a time, but after about three hours...I HAD to get home. My feet swelled, and I felt like I could drink 100 gallons of water and I needed a nap. As luck would have it, I did find a dress for the party that is cute and I found it for $9.60. Got to love the clerance rack at Kohls. I will have pictures up soon after the party, because I am sure that it will be a wonderful time. We are still counting down the days until Christmas when we get to see family and be back in good old GA! It is strange to think that we have not been home since MAY! That is far to long and we are thrilled to go back.

I also wanted to take a moment and wish Brittany all kinds of luck as she was induced today with her second baby girl. Wish I could be there to meet the newest addition to the Dozier family...but it will be another thing to look forward to when we get back to Georgia. Missing everyone very much!!

Thanksgiving, family, baby gifts...

Okay - - I apologize, I am a little behind in my blogging! I will start with Thanksgiving. We had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving here at the Disney house. Nick's mother and father came all the way from Georgia (16 or so hours, give or take) to spend the holiday with us. It was wonderful to see them. We were probably most thankful for the presence here, as we have not seen any of our family for five very loooooong months. With the grandparents to be came more gifts for our little baby boy. I will post pictures on some of the items that we received. One of the best things that we got was an ornament of two snow people. It is a male and female ornament...and the female is preggo! I thought it was the CUTEST thing I had ever seen. It will be a wonderful addition to our tree, which we hope to get any day now.
Baby news - well, I am still a hungry hungry hippo! I am awoken morning after morning with hunger pains and a little baby doing aerobics to let me know that he is awake and hungry. This movements are amazing, and I have grown to love each time he twitches or is beating me up from the inside. The only problem is that he seems to be a little shy. Every time he would get going while Nicks parents were here, he would stop as soon as I said..."oohhhh, feel this!" So hopefully he will get over that for Christmas time, when we will see all of our family. We had our six month check up yesterday and the doctor said everything looked great. I am healthy and so is the little man. My doctor did give me a long talk about signs to watch for in preterm labor which scared me so much that she apologized and made sure to tell me that I am not in any danger for it, she just wanted to educate me on the signs. But, it was wonderful to hear her say that everything was looking just as it should.
On another note from Nick - WHO DAT. He couldn't be happier that the Saints are having a wonderful season. He has already stated that one of the gifts we received would be worn by baby Diz EVERYDAY if they happen to win the Super Bowl. Anyway, now the countdown begins for us to make OUR road trip to Atlanta. Only 22 days until we start that journey.

Nick feels the baby move!

Last night was an AMAZING night for us. About two weeks ago, I had a very hard lump on my belly, and I had Nick feel it. Sure enough, it was our little boy trying to make his every growing presence known. He didn't move from that position, but Nick could tell that this was not an ordinary happening. It was an exciting moment for us...but I secretly wished that he would have moved so that Nick could feel what I had been feeling for a couple of weeks now. Fast forward to last night and, "Baby Niz" as Nick has taken to calling him was a squirmy as he has ever been. I am not sure what he was doing in there, but I was sure that Nick would be able to feel these crazy movements. I placed Nicks hand on my belly and waited for a reaction from Nick. Within a few seconds, this is the conversation that took place:
Nick: "Was that you?"
Mandy: "Nope, not me at all."
Nick: "Well, what the heck is he doing in there?"
Me: "I am not sure, but it feels like somersaults."
Nick: "Wow."
I wish I could have this on tape because it was a wonderful moment for me. Mostly because I finally got to share the wiggles and squirms that I had been feeling with Nick. I have already decided that the little man likes Nick more then he likes me. After Nick took his hand away and I put mine back on my belly...wouldn't you know it, he stopped moving!

New Camera!

Well, here is hoping that our little boy is not camera shy. Last night, Nick and I were invited to a rewards zone Best Buy event. We have been talking about buying a new bigger faster camera since the little man is on the way. It was hard to make this purchase, as I LOVE my little Olympus point and shoot camera. But after about thirty minutes of discussion, we wound up with a Nikon D3000. I got up early this morning to play with it and learn all I could about it. I am about...9% through with learning all of its functions...and I will tell you, the dogs are already tired of me calling their names so I can take a picture of them. I thought I was bad about picture taking before, but now that I am equipped with such an AMAZING camera, who knows what pictures will be popping up on here. I have already threatened to take the camera out to the flight line and see if I can catch Nick landing and taking off. Oh well, at least when Baby Boy Disney comes, his presence will be well documented!

5 Months - Half Way There!

5 Months - Halfway there!

We have made it to the five month mark! As promised to Melissa - here is my five month picture. A lot has changed from the four month picture! I am pleased to say that I am 100% sure that I am now feeling kicks and somersaults from the little man in my belly. Nick cannot feel them yet, but I am very excited that I am now SURE of what I am feeling. It is an amazing sensation that I cannot get enough of. I wish I had a better way of describing it to Nick...but whenever it happens, I am so shocked that I really cannot put into words what I am feeling. All I can say is it is amazing, and I wish I could will him to flip and kick more often.

We are still debating on the name for our baby boy. After reading a few articles, I found out that it is not "proper" to name a child after the father and add "II" to it. When the child is named after the father he is supposed to be a junior, and not a second. The whole junior thing is something that Nick is completely against. (I cannot say I blame him, I mean Nick Junior? Not cool at all.) Who are we to be proper though? I am sure that it is going to take us until we see his handsome little face to decide on a name for sure. Oh the waiting!!

I did want to make sure that everyone knows that not only did we register at Babies R Us and Target, we also just added a registry with Amazon.com. Why did I do this? Well, all of our larger baby items are on Amazon.com and are almost always a good deal cheaper! I figured that everyone should know from now on if you are planning on making ANY kind of purchase - check Amazon.com first. I have found LOTS of items that well worth online shopping. Speaking of the registries, I think I have finalized all of the larger items. I was changing them a lot, but have since settled on colors / designs for everything. We also choose a different crib then originally added to the registry. I tried to drive myself nuts over the crib...but in the end decided that it isn't really what the crib looks like that is important. So now I am just counting down the days until Thanksgiving and then Christmas. It will be really wonderful to spend time with family and friends. Our next doctors appointment is on November 30th!

Belly Pics

I posted a slide show on the side of the blog to let you guys see how much I have been growing over the weeks. The pictures in the slide show are from 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 weeks. I will continue to update this as it appears to be my mommy and my sister Mels favorite things to see. It is hard to believe that on Sunday, we will be 20 weeks along - HALF WAY THERE! I just finished my first bottle of prenatal vitamins today which means we have known we are expecting for 100 days. It doesn't seem that long, and it sure seems as if the time has just FLOWN by. Now I am looking very much forward to the holidays, as Nicks mom and dad will be visiting for Thanksgiving and I cannot WAIT to go back to Georgia for Christmas.
I also wanted to send some love to our families that are so far away from us. I received a call from my Aunt Lynn yesterday requesting information on when she, my Aunt Laurie and my cousin Lori Leigh could host a baby shower for me. It was amazing to ALREADY think about a baby shower, seeing as we just registered three days ago. None the less, it got me thinking about our wonderful families and how much they do for us. Lynn also had a TON of wonderful advice on things I probably shouldn't register for and things that I would absolutely need. Nicks Aunt Jackie also leaves lots of supportive comments on my facebook page as well as funny emails. These are just all wonderful things for me being so far away. So, here is to aunts that I already knew were "Great" figuratively and literally! Oh, and I will be staying in Georgia after Christmas until January 13. We are not sure when the shower will be, but I will update on that as soon as I know!

Registering for the little man...

So, after these many weeks of waiting to find out what we were having, Nick promised me that we would go register for the baby when we knew what the sex was. Well, we went yesterday and I know that I had a blast. I think that Nick enjoyed certain parts of registering (mainly the scanner gun) but it did seem to take FOREVER! We registered at both Babies R Us and Target. Again, I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of items this little man could use. I know he will not need ALL of them, but wow. I had already been doing some research online, so the larger items (car seat, stroller, high chair etc...) I had already decided on. It was TOOOO cute to look at all of the little boy things. Nick was sure to scan a little bib that reads, "My dad is cooler then your dad" which I found quite funny. But at least that is one of a million things checked off of our list before our little boy comes to meet us.
We had a great time over the weekend showing off our ultra sound pictures. We also received wonderful balloons from the Jones family that said, "its a boy" and the Gill family gave us a baby bath time gift set. It was so sweet of them to think of us. We really appreciated all of the phone calls, texts and facebook messages from everyone congratulating us and sending us well wishes. It meant a lot to hear from so many close friends and family even from so far away! I am off today to make copies of the ultrasound pictures to send to both Grandmas so that they can show them off. As far as names go, we still have nothing certain picked out. We may add names to the quiz soon and then begin to narrow it down. Nick and I both feel like we will probably narrow it down to two names and see which one fits him the best when he is born.

Baby Disney's First Pictures!

Yesterday was an exceptionally exciting day! We found out who was living in my belly! After anxiously waiting in the doctors office, we finally got to see for the first time our little baby BOY! It was an amazing moment. He didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered to much to take his photo, but we still managed to get some good shots of him. He didn't seem in the LEAST bit modest, because we saw that he was a boy within thirty seconds of the wand being placed on my belly! The little man seemed VERY relaxed in there. It was so cool to see all of the things that a sonogram can pick up. We saw all four chambers of his heart, his kidneys, ribs, oh the list goes on and on. In between finding each of these things, the technician repeated several times, "well, I am trying to find this, but all he wants to show me is weenie!" So, apparently we do not have a very modest son and I am not at all sure were he gets that! What is the funniest thing about our appointment is it was the day before Halloween, so the technician that did the sonogram had some kind of possessed white contacts in as well as some creepy makeup. After the sonogram was over, we went to have our regular doctor visit. Dr. Glazener said everything looked WONDERFUL and that all of my blood work came back negative for any birth defects. She was also dressed up as Cleopatra which was hillarious as well. All in all, we could not have asked for a better day. Neither Nick or I could stop looking at the monitor that showed us just a little glimps about who was growing in there! I managed to put together some of the still shots that we were given, so ENJOY! We also received a DVD but I am having a little trouble loading that on the computer. As soon as I get that worked out, I will be posting it!

Old Wives Tales

So we are officially one day away from finding out what sex the baby is! I couldn't be more excited or anxious. In order to kill some time today, I got on the Internet to check out what silly old wives tales I could find that supposedly help predict gender. I went ahead and did a few of them, plus one really funny one of my own. Here are my findings:

Test # 1 - Carrying high or low?

I think I am carrying low, but at times it seems to be right in the middle. But, since that is not an option, I will go with low.

Result - Boy

Test #2 - Heart Rate, high or low?

If the baby has a heart rate of 140+, then that is supposed to be a girl. If it is lower then 140, then the baby is a boy. The last doctors appointment told us the heart rate was 157.

Result - Girl

Test #3 - Chinese Birth Chart

By imputing my age, lunar calendar age and when the baby was conceived, the Chinese birth chart predicts what sex your child would be. It is crazy because it is said to be 90% accurate.

Result - Boy

Test #4 - Even and Odds

An old Mayan legend uses even and odd numbers to predict the sex of the baby. It says that if your age at conception and the year of conception are both even, it is a girl. If one is odd and the other is even, it is a boy. My age at conception - 26, year of conception - 2009

Test #5 - Wedding Band

If you take your wedding band and tie it from a string, and hang it over your belly. The motion of the wedding band is supposed to predict the sex. Swaying like a pendulum is a boy. In a circular motion is a girl. Mine went back and forth like a pendulum.

Test #6 - My fave, Buck and Beau Leaux

I took two bowls, one pink and one blue. I placed a treat in each bowl. Separately, I had each dog come and and based on which color bowl they choose, that would be their gender prediction. Check out the pics, they make me laugh.

So where does that leave us? 4 tests for boy and 2 for girl. Who really knows?? I had fun doing all of the tests, so we will just have to wait for a confirmation tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. I am going to put up another poll to see what everyone else thinks - be sure to vote!

The name game

Who new that naming a baby was going to be SUCH a challenge? Nick likes names that are clever and unique, where I like names that come from someone in our family tree. We are working hard to combine names that work for both of these categories. What else does that mean? We are more then happy to have suggestions from family and friends. The polls that we have already put up show a heavy lead in Evelynn Leigh and Logan Spencer. Once we find out what sex the baby is (in four very very looooonnnnnggg days) I am hoping that choosing a name will get that much easier.
Newest happenings? I am 90% positive I am feeling the baby move. I know that it is kind of early but there is some unexplained motion going on in my abdomen that cannot be attributed to digestion or any thing I can think of. It also is this amazing poking feeling that comes when I am lying quietly or right after I have just finished a meal. I am still very excited to feel the right hooks and bicycle kicks in the coming months as the baby gets bigger and stronger. I am also very excited for Nick to be able to feel these movements.
While this is not baby related but very exciting, Nick had his first check ride and solo in the TC-12 on Friday. He said he did "good" which we all know is code for very well. He starts night flights some time in the near future which apparently very cool.

CUTE website

So while I was busy browsing everything baby, I came across this website. I have about 1,000 ideas for cute baby onesies and couldn't believe this website was available! I figured I would publish it for moms to be so they could have fun with creating their own onesies. I also am sure that soon to be G-ma (Nicks mommy) and Auntie Sarah will find this website lots of fun.

I don't have too much else to report today other then we are one week from finding out what the sex of the baby is! I don't know how I am going to kill the next seven days and I am sure they will drag on and on and on. I also fixed the polls on the side of the blog so that everyone can vote on their favorite baby names!

Four Months Along

We have made it to four months along. Everything still seems to be going wonderfully, and I am very happy for that. I am now eating anything and everything I can get my hands on. I get crazy starving about every two hours or so. Upon the advice of a friend, I now have teddy grahams next to my bed, because I get so hungry when I wake up. If I don't get something in my stomach pretty quickly, I start to feel VERY nauseous.

After speaking with Theresa Rieber (a fellow preggo and pilot wife) and Jennifer Gill (another pilot wife) Nick and I made the decision to change doctors. We needed to find someone who we felt actually cared about us and was interested in the time that we had with the doctor, which our previous doctor was not. We had an appointment on October 7th with Dr. Leighanne Glazener. I knew from the moment she started speaking to me in the appointment that this was the doctor I needed. She was very understanding of my fears and why I changed doctors. She was also more then happy to answer the one million questions I came to her with on a written down note pad. Nick couldn't make it to this appointment because of his flight schedule, but I know he will love this doctor as well. She also heard the heartbeat and was very pleased with my overall health. I had to get a lot of blood taken for a quad screen and some other various tests for the baby. I am very much looking forward to seeing this doctor again. Our next appointment is October 30 and that is when we find out what the sex of the baby is!! Yahoo! Now I am busy counting down the days for that appointment.

Lunch Meat Scare

So, I had a bit of a scare before the doctors appointment the other day. I didn't realize that lunch meat was a no no for pregnant women. I had a couple of turkey sandwiches the week before our last baby appointment. I found out from a friend that you shouldn't eat lunch meat because of a bacteria called listeria. This information of course caused me to feel very uneasy...after all the Cajun turkey we had was DELICIOUS! So, at our doctors appointment I asked about the dangers of lunch mean. My doctor put my mind at ease and said not to worry about what I had already eaten and that lunch meat when bought from a proper deli and then stored correctly at home was perfectly safe but limit my consumption. Needless to say I was delighted to hear this news.
Nick and I made our weekly trip to the grocery store the next day which of course we purchased more of the Cajun turkey and Cajun roast beef I had been enjoying previously. I was glad that this was still on my list of things to eat as food has not been tasting all that good recently and my meals are pretty limited. As we got home and put the groceries away, I picked up the lunch meat and as I went to put it away...gagged. Gagged so hard that I almost made myself sick. Needless to say, every time I open the fridge and can smell the lunch meat - - I gag. So, I guess that puts an end to the lunch meat issue I was having. Weird huh?

3 Months Along

We had our second doctors visit today and it was AMAZING. We got to hear the heartbeat today. The nurse said it was at 164 and she predicted a girl. I don't have a clue what the baby is, but everyone who has taken a guess has said boy. I am starting to have a gut feeling, but I am not sure yet what I really think the baby is. All I know is when we left the doctors appointment today we were amazed at the heartbeat. We were a little let down by the experience at the office however, because the nurse found the heartbeat and the doctor seemed as though drying paint would have been more interesting then our appointment. Nick and I discussed this at great length and will probably be looking to other doctors in the area. On of Nicks classmates has a wife who is also pregnant, as well as another students wife who is a labor and delivery nurse. I will be seeing them soon and will be enlisting their help / advice on my doctor and what I should do. We do have another appointment set for October 13, and at that time we will have a lot of blood tests and hear the heartbeat again. We also received our first card from the Gayle Family congratulating us on the pregnancy. It was wonderful to get this card and the Gayle family is just too sweet to think of us.

First Baby Gift

Today we received our first baby gift. It came from Nick's mother. It is the cutest little onesie from Harley Davidson and a pair of Harley Davidson booties. There was a slight problem though, she meant to send us the blue onesie, but somehow we got the pink onesie instead. Nick thinks it is because she secretly is hoping for a girl...but she swears up and down that she chose blue because she figured a boy or girl could wear blue. Oh well, we will send it back to get the blue one. It is really cute though, here is the blue onesie that should be arriving in the next two weeks or so.

First Doctors Appointment

Our first doctors appointment was very exciting and seemed to take forever. That could be because I had to pee so bad. The doctor was very nice and answered all of the questions that we had to ask. He also said that everything felt just fine and I have a "good sized pelvis" which I am guessing is a good thing. I also had lots of blood taken for various tests. After the doctors appointment we made lots of calls to tell more family and some very special people. I called Lori Leigh Alderman first to let her know and Nick called Aaron Jongko. This was supposed to be done on a huge three way call including Katie Button, but Nick messed that up. Oh well. Everyone seemed very happy and by far the best phone call was with Tyler Parker. He was so excited for us and asked to speak with both of us. Everyone sent their best wishes and it was wonderful to hear from everyone that is so far away. Since our last post I have been having odd cravings. Most of them are sour cravings and for some unknown reason I really want coffee. I don't even care for coffee that much. I currently cannot stand the sight of any type of chicken, which is weird because a week ago, all I really wanted was some KFC. I am also sleeping like it is my job. I get at least one nap a day but it winds up being more like two. Our next doctors appointment is September 15 and we will hear the heartbeat for the first time!

Crying over mushrooms

Today was kind of a sad / silly day with a story that I felt I had to share. I have been eating a lot of salads lately...mostly because of the dressing (a raspberry vinaigrette that I cannot get enough of for some reason) and today for the first time, I cried over what Nick would say is nothing. I went to make both of us a delicious salad for lunch. On these salads, I usually put fresh mushrooms. As I went to get them out of the fridge, I pulled my hand back quickly as I suddenly felt very nauseous over the mushrooms. I shut the door and told Nick what had happened, but that I would be more then happy to cut the mushrooms for him if he really wanted them. He was understanding and said not to worry about it. As I continued to make the rest of the salad I suddenly became very sad and started to cry. When Nick asked what on earth I was crying about I told him, "I don't want to not like mushrooms. I love mushrooms and I am sad that they made me sick." Silly I know, and I hope my taste for mushrooms comes back, because that upset me so very much!

First Trip to Babies R Us

This pic is the second picture we took. I am six weeks along in this picture and our due date is March 28, 2009!
So, I dragged Nick to Babies R Us today. The reason for this trip? We had been discussing how many things a baby needs and Nick did not believe me on how much crazy stuff was out there. We wound up at the store so that he could see how many items were there for babies. I don't think I have ever seen his eyes so big. There was plenty of things that we know we will not need, but the shock was still there. I don't remember exactly which day it was, but Nick had his first baby dream. It was about changing stinky diapers. We have made lots of phone calls from when we found out to now to tell family the good news. However, we only told our moms, dads and sisters. We also told Grammaw and Papaw Disney as well as your cousin Cori. The first person that was told was my mother. She shrieked in my ear, and from another country said she just knew it. Our best reaction so far was from Auntie Sarah. I don't know if the sound that she made could ever be duplicated, but needless to say she was very very happy.
We have also taken on the daunting task of finding a doctor. It is not really easy when we don't know anyone in the area and have to rely on what our insurance company says. We do have a doctors appointment set for August 20, 2009 at 3 pm with Doctor John Duke. This was a change in our original appointment because Nick got his training class schedule and would not be able to make it to the first appointment. Looking forward to that day!

July 28, 2009 We are Pregnant!

Well, today was a VERY important day in the Disney household. Nick and I had just recently made the decision to start a family. By recently, we had just made the choice to go off of birth control at the end of May. So, here we are only two months later and I was feeling...weird I guess is the best way to put it. I was in the grocery store and realized that something was missing. Not coupons...not my crazy shopping list or my reusable grocery bags, but my monthy visitor. I went back home to take a home pregnancy test. Nick was flying that morning, so he had no idea what was going on in my crazy head.

After taking the pregnancy test, which was all but helpful (I didn't have a clue if it was positive or negative. I looked at it under all sorts of lights, outside and even took a picture of it) I was starting to get a little anxious. SO, what was my next step? To take another test. This one again was less then decisive. Finally, Nick came home and I calmly explained to him what was going on and he took one look at the tests and said, "Well, I believe you are pregnant." I was shocked at his so sure attitude. I quickly said to him, "I think we need to go purchase another test, because these are not telling me anything." He took me to the NEX on base, we bought a test that had two in it. I went home to take the first test and it came out negative. I wasn't sure what to do at this point.

After complaining to Nick and driving him all but nuts, we wound up at the base medical center were they drew blood and told us to call back at 2:00 pm for the results. We came back home and Nick took a little nap. Of course, I couldn't join him, as I was loosing my mind waiting for 2:00 pm. At 1:57 pm I called a nurse by the name of Dan who asked me what I would be happiest hearing. I told him I didn't know, as this was all SUCH a shock and to go ahead with the news. He then said, (as my heart stopped) "well, Mrs. Disney you are most certainly pregnant." I was sitting on our porch at the time and quickly jumped out of my seat back to the sleeping Nick. I nudged him a little bit and I asked, "Well, I called the nurse and guess what? We are preggo." He leaned up and hugged me and his first words through a huge smile were, "I told you so." This came from the fact that I was convinced that it would take us FOREVER to get pregnant. Laughs on me...huh?
